The following is the procedure for adjusting the z-position of the half nipple on the PLD scattering chamber in G3.
There are two precision brass collars that must be remembered at all times.
1) Remove 4 large 3/4 inch nuts on Huber 410 mounting posts.
2) Loosen collar on the Ferrofluidic seal (3/16 hex).
3) Pull shaft and Huber assembly straight back, through both O-rings on the ferrofluidic seal.
4) Place assembly on bench for adjusting, be careful to maintain the integrity of the polished shaft.
5) Remove 3 hex bolts from brass locking collar on the back side of the Huber.
6) Slide Huber down shaft, away from brass locking collar.
7) Loosen hex set screw on brass locking collar, make adjustments as necessary. Lock the collar again, do not overtighten.
8) Remove the Huber dial. From the dial side, hold inner brass alignment bushing flush to the Huber inner bushing.
9) Make sure the locking collar is flush to the inner Huber bushing, there is a pin on the Huber that must mate to the locking collar to make it sit flush.
10) Align the three bolt holes (its a tight fit) and insert the screws, making sure the collar and bushings are held flush.
11) Reinstall the dial, insert the shaft into the ferrofluidic seal, tighten the bolts and the collar.
