Pump-Down and Backfill Procedures for Upstream and Downstream Flight Paths

Flight Paths / Transfer Pipes

  1. make sure the appropriate downstream window in the hutch is in place
  2. close the He input valve in the hutch
  3. make sure all transfer pipes are in place
  4. close He outlet valve and He backfill valve
  5. pump down flight path for about 20 min; check manometer and inspect flightpaths for leaks
  6. close vacuum valve and open backfill valve; watch the manometer

  7.       (notes: the backfill line has some overpressure; the box is protected with an overpressure valve
                      when you hear the overpressure valve open, it is time to close the backfill line! )
  8. close the backfill valve when the manometer reads slightly above 0
  9. open the outlet valve and the inlet valve in the hutch
  10. check that the backflow sensor sees flow
  11. reset the interlock box in the G-line ops area
